Suzuki Charter School - all about music!

About Us

Parents who enroll their children in Suzuki Charter School represent a cross-section of the Edmonton community. They share a common belief in the importance of a strong academic program enriched by a carefully planned integrated program of music instruction. Indeed, it is the breadth and central focus on the Suzuki music program that makes the Suzuki Charter School unique, and which qualified the school for the Charter granted by the Minister of Learning in 1995.

The Suzuki Method consists of two components: individual and group lessons. Each parent is responsible for providing individual private lessons and the instrument for their child. Suzuki Charter School extends this musical foundation by providing group classes, enriching musical experiences, and integration of the teaching philosophy throughout the school day.

Suzuki Charter School, located in the Capilano area of southeast Edmonton, is housed in a school building leased from Edmonton Public Schools. The school employs over 40 committed staff members, including administration, academic and music teachers, support staff, after-school caregivers, and lunch supervisors. We currently serve over 300 students and their families and are open to any family willing to invest the time and effort to follow the Suzuki method of learning to play a musical instrument with their child on registering with our school.
